Back by popular demand! Our Annual Day of Play is scheduled for Friday, February 6!

The Global Day of Play is a worldwide celebration that encourages children and families to unplug from screens and reconnect through active, creative play. It highlights the importance of play in supporting physical health, emotional well-being, and social development. By promoting games, imagination, and outdoor activities, the day reminds communities everywhere that play is essential for learning, joy, and human connection.

This year's official Global Day of Play is Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Sunset Terrace will recognize this day for the 3rd straight year on Friday, February 6, 2026. We are in the process of planning many fun activities for this day and cannot wait to share more information about this as we finalize our plan.

Wednesday January 14 we request our school community to join us for the dress up day of Sunset Terrace Spirit wear. For those students/staff that have a Unified Shirt we ask that they wear those.

Wednesday January 14 is LIVE UNIFIED Day. The Unified movement is all about making the world more inclusive for people with and without intellectual disabilities. If you "Live Unified" it means you help ensure that everyone has the right to play, learn and thrive in your school and community. Sunset Terrace remains the only elementary school in the RPS district that is a Unified Champion School and we are so proud of that!

As we finish up Inclusive Schools week, we thank all the work that staff and students put into it! We hope that the value of making others feel seen and accepted, even when their abilities might be far different than others, will extend outside of the school building as well. Some questions we challenge our school community to reflect on are: (1) Do we protect each other from bullying or peer pressure (in person and online)?, (2) Are we the friend that we want others to be to us?, and (3) Do we make certain that our circle of friends includes the diversity reflected in our community and world? Happy Inclusive Schools Week! #sominnesota
